I want to translate my web site
into
another language, but I don’t want
my marketing message to be lost in
translation.
Will people in my target countries be able to find my web site? Do they Google? How on earth does all this work with character based languages like Chinese?"
Our web site localisation service will make sure your web site is open for business in all your target markets. Contact us to find out more.
HOW TO
TRANSLATE MY
WEB SITE INTO
ANOTHER
LANGUAGE
IT'S ABOUT MORE
THAN TRANSLATION!
The process of translating your web site and deploying it successfully in your target market is known as web site localisation. Localisation starts with translation of your web site into your target language(s). We recommend using native speaking, professionally accredited translators to ensure linguistic and cultural nuances are taken into account, otherwise you run the risk that your message may be lost in translation.
The next step is to localise your internet marketing strategy to your target marketplaces.
If the original web site has been keyword optimised for search engine performance, then the translated web site should be optimised for localised versions of those keywords. However, this exercise should be supported by professional keyword research, as the keywords that perform well in your home market will not necessarily perform as well in others.
You must also make sure you are well represented on local search engines. Google has a huge market lead in most countries, but not all. Where it does not, you will want to make sure you are listed on the search engines that do lead the way (e.g. Baidu in China and Yandex in Russia).
Finally, you may want to consider hosting your translated web site under a local domain name (e.g. yourbusiness.cn in China)? This is important if you want to perform well on local search engines, especially if your current web site is hosted under a country specific domain (e.g. .co.uk).
COUNTRY TARGETED SEARCH ENGINE MARKETING
Once you have localised your web site, it's time to consider pay per click advertising as a cost effective and low risk means of reaching your target markets.
You can run country targeted pay per click campaigns on all the main global search engines, such as Google and Yahoo. Some of the main in-country search engines will have similar schemes, though you may need to operate through local agencies. The main benefit of pay per click advertising is that you pay only for results - you are not charged unless a visitor clicks through to your web site, no matter how many times your ad is actually shown. But pay per click is also highly measurable, enabling you to see which campaigns and keywords are generating the most revenue.
